Terms of Service

Last updated 3 October 2026 · www.practicumcounsellingpsychology.online

The short version. This is a free, independent directory that helps counselling-psychology students find practices to contact about a practicum. It is a starting point for your own research — nothing more.

It is not a placement service, a referral service, a clinical service, or an endorsement of anyone. It does not verify credentials, licences or insurance, and it does not know whether any practice is accepting students. Always confirm everything with the practice and with your own academic programme before you rely on it.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the maintainers of the Practicum Counselling Psychology Directory at www.practicumcounsellingpsychology.online ("we", "us", "our") (the "Site"). By using the Site you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Site.

The Site is provided free of charge. We do not charge visitors, we do not charge practices for inclusion, and we accept no advertising or sponsorship. There is no subscription, no account and no payment of any kind.

Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

2. What this site is

The Site is an informational directory. It compiles publicly available business contact details for private practices and counselling centres in Alberta and Ontario, and lets you filter them by location and by the focus areas those practices describe on their own websites. Its purpose is to shorten the first step of a practicum search: building a list of places worth contacting.

3. What this site is not

Stated plainly, so there is no room for misunderstanding. The Site is not:

  • A placement or matching service. We do not arrange, broker, coordinate, recommend or secure practicum placements, and we have no role in any decision a practice makes about you.
  • A record of availability. The Site does not track, confirm or publish whether any practice is accepting practicum students. A practice appearing here implies nothing about openings, interest, or willingness to supervise.
  • A verification or credentialing service. We do not check licences, registrations, college standing, disciplinary history, insurance, supervision qualifications, police checks, or whether a practice is still operating. Verify these yourself, with the relevant regulatory college and with the practice.
  • An endorsement. Inclusion is not a recommendation, ranking, accreditation, quality signal or approval. Exclusion means nothing either — most likely the practice simply was not found, or asked to be removed.
  • A referral service for clients or patients. The Site is not a way to find a therapist for yourself or anyone else, and must not be used or presented as one.
  • Affiliated with any practice, college, association, university or employer, including any listed practice and any academic programme. No relationship of agency, partnership, employment, joint venture or supervision is created by the Site or by these Terms.

4. No professional advice

Nothing on the Site is clinical, medical, psychological, legal, academic or career advice. Decisions about your practicum — where to apply, what a placement requires, whether a site or supervisor meets your programme's or your regulator's requirements — rest with you, your academic programme and the applicable regulatory body.

5. If you are in crisis

The Site is not a crisis service and no one monitors it. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. For suicide or mental-health crisis support anywhere in Canada, call or text 9-8-8 — the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, available 24 hours a day in English and French. Do not use a listing here expecting an urgent reply.

6. Accuracy and availability

Listings are assembled automatically from public sources and refreshed periodically. This means information here may be incomplete, outdated, duplicated, mis-categorised or simply wrong — a practice may have moved, closed, changed its name, changed its phone number, or never have offered what a focus-area tag suggests. Focus areas in particular are inferred from wording on a practice's own website and should be treated as a rough hint, not a statement of fact about that practice's services.

Always confirm details directly with the practice before acting on them. We give no assurance that the Site will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, current, or maintained at all, and we may change, pause or stop it at any time without notice.

If you spot something wrong, telling us at counsellingpsychologypracticum@gmail.com is genuinely welcome.

7. Acceptable use

You may use the Site for your own personal, non-commercial research — looking for practices, and contacting them individually about a practicum. You may not:

  • Scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download or systematically extract the listings or the underlying data file, whether by script, bot, browser extension or manual copying at scale.
  • Republish, resell, licence, redistribute or syndicate the listings, in whole or in substantial part, or use them to build, seed, enrich or train another directory, database, mailing list, lead list, CRM, product or machine-learning model.
  • Send bulk, unsolicited or commercial messages to addresses found here. Canada's anti-spam legislation prohibits sending a commercial electronic message without consent and without prescribed sender identification and a working unsubscribe mechanism (An Act to promote the efficiency and adaptability of the Canadian economy, S.C. 2010, c. 23, ss. 6(1) and 6(2)). Marketing to these practices, and using the Site to assemble a marketing list, is prohibited outright — and penalties under that Act fall on the sender, not on us.
  • Use the Site to contact anyone for anything other than a genuine practicum enquiry, including recruitment campaigns, sales, surveys, research solicitation, fundraising or political messaging.
  • Interfere with the Site — no attempts to disrupt, overload, circumvent access controls, probe for vulnerabilities, or access anything not intentionally published.
  • Misrepresent the Site, including implying that we endorse you, that we arranged an introduction, that we vouch for a practice, or that a practice is accepting students because it appears here.
  • Remove or obscure attribution, copyright notices or these Terms from any permitted copy.

We may block access, without notice, where use appears to breach this section.

8. Contacting listed practices

When you write to a practice you found here, you are doing so on your own behalf, not ours. Keep it individual, professional and relevant to a practicum enquiry — one thoughtful email to a practice you have actually researched, not a mass mailing. Practices are busy clinical businesses, have no obligation to reply, and are entitled to ask you not to contact them again; if asked, stop. Anything you say to a practice, and anything that follows from it, is between you and them.

9. If you are a listed practice

Your listing shows business contact information you publish about yourself, so that a student can reach you in your professional capacity. You can have it corrected or removed at any time, for any reason or none, at no cost — we never charge for inclusion, for removal, for priority, or for anything else, and we will never ask you to pay to change or delete an entry. Removals are permanent and are honoured by the automatic weekly refresh, so a removed practice is not re-added. Email counsellingpsychologypracticum@gmail.com; the process and our timelines are set out in section 9 of the Privacy Policy.

The Site links out to practices' websites and to Google Maps. We do not control those destinations, are not responsible for their content, accuracy, security or practices, and linking to them is not an endorsement. Once you follow a link, that site's own terms and privacy policy apply.

11. Intellectual property

The Site's design, layout, text, code and the wording of these documents are ours and may not be copied wholesale, but you are welcome to quote or link to them.

Listing data is factual business information originating with the practices themselves and with third-party public sources, including Overture Maps, the open places dataset published by the Overture Maps Foundation. The licence texts for that data are in the licenses/ folder, linked from the directory page's footer. We claim no ownership of the listing data, and we do not grant you any licence to it or to any third-party data or trade mark that appears here. Practice names, logos and trade marks belong to their owners. Where a third-party source requires attribution for data or mapping services, that attribution is displayed on the Site and must not be removed, altered or obscured in any permitted copy.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express, implied or statutory. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, currency, title, quiet enjoyment, uninterrupted or error-free operation, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that any listing is accurate or current, that any practice is licensed, insured, operating, suitable, safe or willing to supervise, or that using the Site will lead to a placement.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; where that is so, this section applies to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing here excludes a right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of opportunity, placement, academic progression, time, income, profits, reputation, goodwill or data, arising from or relating to your use of the Site — including reliance on an inaccurate, outdated or missing listing, any dealing with or conduct of a listed practice, any interruption or discontinuation of the Site, or any third-party site or service reached from it.

To the extent we are found liable despite the above, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Site is limited to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100). This reflects that the Site is offered free of charge, without revenue, as a public convenience. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, penalty, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site — in particular any scraping, republication, or bulk or unsolicited messaging carried out using information obtained here.

15. Changes and discontinuation

We may update these Terms; the "last updated" date above will change and any material change will be reflected in the text. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms. We may also change, restrict or shut down the Site, or any part of it, at any time and without notice or liability — it is a volunteer project, and it may not run forever.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you consent to that venue — except that a consumer or a listed practice may bring a matter in any forum that applicable law entitles them to, and nothing here prevents anyone from complaining to a privacy commissioner or other regulator.

17. General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it is limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Site. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor operator of the Site. Sections 3, 4, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 16 survive any end to your use of the Site.

18. Contact
